Antony Pieters was our Research Assistant in 2025. In his time with us, he shot videos during fieldwork and in our Research Station. The result is a beautiful wildlife documentary portrait of our work. You can watch it in the link below!
In his own words: “During our surveys, I filmed the moments between data collection from the incredible wildlife encounters to the realities of research. By shaping these into a short documentary, my goal was to share these experiences through a scientific lens while making them accessible to a wider audience. This project was also my way of engaging in science communication. Public awareness is crucial, and while scientific papers are essential, they aren’t always the most accessible format for everyone. Visual storytelling offers another path to help people connect with research, understand its importance, and feel involved in the science happening around them.
Working with cetaceans is already a dream come true, and being able to combine it with my passion for wildlife filmmaking has been an experience that will be hard to top.”
