Introduction to cetaceans
This Workshop is lectured in English.
Theoretical and practical workshop about the marine mammals of continental Portugal.
This workshop provides an introduction to the study of marine mammals, in particular whales, dolphins and porpoises.
Participants will gain general knowledge about the different species of cetaceans, particularly the ones occurring around mainland Portugal, cetacean biology, species identification, study methodologies and the impacts of anthropogenic activities.

After completing her MSc in Marine Conservation at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, Alicia joined AIMM as a research assistant. She has been part of the team ever since and is currently involved in different research projects of AIMM, one of them being the photo identification of orcas seen in the Algarve.
Guilherme is a naturalist and wildlife enthusiast who has been working with marine mammals for over a decade. His previous whale watching experience has allowed him to spend countless hours observing cetaceans in the field. Guilherme is currently a research assistant and skipper at AIMM.
