Planet Wild is a conservation initiative based in Berlin, Germany that supports rewilding projects and reports on them through video documentation. It’s made up of a global community of individuals that want to give back to nature by funding frontline ecosystem restoration missions where it really matters. Their missions are based on community votes, vetted for high impact, and video-documented for anyone to see first hand.
And AIMM is part of their mission number 8!
Part of Planet Wild’s team joined us in the Algarve, for some fieldwork together. In some parts of the Algarve coast, in high season, up to 150 dolphin-watching boats head out to find cetaceans multiple times a day. All that noise and disrupting is potentially impacting their movement patterns.
With the support of the Planet Wild community, AIMM received the funds for two hydrophones that can record underwater cetacean communication for acoustic analysis. This equipment will be a big advance for our team and for marine protection in Portugal. Thank you for joining us and choosing our organization!
